Winning Poker Online – Why You Should Play Free Tournaments
Poker online is simply the online version of the old fashioned brick and mortar poker game played at land based casinos. Poker online is played by players all over the world, from every part of the world. Poker online is probably one of the biggest growing businesses on the internet today. Poker online is also responsible for quite a substantial rise in the number of poker players all over the world.
So, what makes poker online so appealing to players? Well, its easy; it’s fun, easy money, easy access and its convenient, there are literally millions of people playing poker online, from all walks of life, and you don’t have to travel anywhere to play. Now, you may be asking yourself “Why should I play poker online when I can just go to the real money poker sites?” Well, for one, you can play for free, or at least you should be able to if you play at any of the big, legit poker sites.
When I first started playing poker, I made my money by playing in online poker books. The nice thing about these poker books is that they had a “Wins” calculator in them, which was my lifeline at that point. The “Wins” calculator told me how much I would win or lose depending on the current situation of the table. Also, there were many training sites where I could learn some of the more basic poker rules, such as the nuts and bolts of playing poker, hand management, bluffing, betting sizes and much more. There were also plenty of online poker books that taught me the ins and outs of some of the more exotic games that weren’t commonly played, such as Caribbean Stud Poker and Texas Hold’em, which was one of my favorites at the time.
One of the key differences that separated many poker players from me, was their tendency to multi-tabling. For example, if I was in an online poker game and I was having an off day, I would try to multi-table into six or seven tables at a time. This would keep me somewhat stable, because it forced me to think about each hand and how to develop a strategy around it, rather than trying to figure out how I was going to win a particular hand on one table. Also, if I was winning a lot of money in one table, I felt like I should stick there and take my chances of a win versus losing on another table. However, I quickly learned that this approach brought me nothing but disappointment in terms of money won or lost.
Because of my negative experience with multi-tabling, I eventually gave up poker online sites altogether, although I still regularly enjoyed the occasional game at a good site. On a recent occasion, I decided to sign up for a site that offered something different: no sign-up bonuses. I really like poker, so this was a very big change for me. I hadn’t really thought about how much money I wanted to make or what I wanted to do with my money, so when I first signed up I had no idea what bonuses I would be eligible for. When I checked out the site, I was surprised to find that I would qualify for a bonus of around $1000 to play with, which was a pretty big payout.
So now I’m not only playing for money, but I’m also playing to win big. In addition to the monthly bonuses, I have always found freeroll poker tournaments to be quite fun. If you ever run into a situation where you know you are at your most competitive, I highly recommend playing in freeroll tournaments rather than focusing all your efforts on one type of poker. The key is to keep a positive attitude about everything, even when you are losing.
